In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Tokyo and Chukyo Racecourses, the second of which hosts the oft-productive G3 Kisaragi Sho for the classic crop of 2022:

CHARITABLE THOUGHT (c, 3, Nyquist–Relaxing Green, by Formal Gold) finished a distant fifth behind wide-margin maiden winner and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile participant Jasper Great (Arrogate) in a single appearance at two over 1800 meters in October (video SC 7). A $335K purchase as a weanling at Fasig-Tipton November in 2019, the Apr. 19 foal is a half-brother to GISW Marley's Freedom (Blame) and SW Noble Charlotte (Include) and hails from the female family of GISW Noble Bird (Birdstone). LOGI MUSTANG (JPN) (f, 3, Frosted–Luvthatmustang, by Candt Ride {Arg}) was produced by a daughter of MGSW & GISP Proposed (Benchmark) and was acquired in utero for $175K at Keeneland November in 2018. From the extended Wygod family of GSW Prospect Park (Tapit) from the same sire line, Logi Mustang was offered as a yearling at the JRHA Select Sale in 2020, hammering for $140,315. B-Araki Farm

11th-CKO, G3 Kisaragi Sho-G3, ¥76.6m ($664k), 3yo, 2000mT
AIR ANEMOI (c, 3, Point of Entry–Nokaze, by Empire Maker) overcame a wide draw and led ever step of the way to earn his diploma by three lengths going this distance at Hanshin Dec. 19 (video, SC 9). The May 7 foal is the latest promising runner for his dam, who is also responsible for Japanese Group 2 winner Air Almas (Majestic Warrior), Air Fanditha (Hat Trick {Jpn}), a winner of four races in Japan and Air Amemoi's full-brother Air Sage, a three-time winner from just five starts. Nokaze is herself a half-sister to Yuzuru (Medaglia d'Oro), the stakes-winning dam of Yuugiri (Shackleford), a latest second in the GII Golden Rod S. in November who could make her 3-year-old debut in graded company at Oaklawn over the coming weeks.
